The Friday Muse – Tinson’s Door (Part 2)

Curiosity had always scratched at his insides, luring him into the fields of science, technology, and astronomy. The Black Door, however, was something completely different. It was something that fell between the shelves of Tinson’s chosen fields of research. The Black Door was something supernatural, something alien. Something bizarre.

The Friday Muse – When Your Characters Walk Away

Turquoise. Carrie. David. Mr. Big. Kimberly. Veronica. Sean. All characters from my Expired Reality series. All friends I haven’t spoken with in a while. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to speak with them. I’ve just been…busy. Life has – as it is so good at doing – interrupted the muse countless number of times. Instead of taking my evenings to write after using my long days to work on the publishing company, I instead find my energy drained, my motivation lacking, and my muse dead and dried up like a tumbleweed. “I’ll write tomorrow night.” “I’ll write at my Thursday night writing meetings.” “I’ll use NaNoWriMo to catch up.”…

    Life’s ‘Little’ Distractions

I know I’ve been away from this blog for a bit now. I’m sorry about that. I meant to continue my Flash Fiction Fridays. I meant to raise discussion about my time in San Francisco and where I believe God is leading me. I meant to continue my writing projects – such as Red Crane. But as is the norm, life got in the way. More specifically, The Crossover Alliance got in my way. It was only a year ago that I registered an LLC, purchased a business license, and opened the doors of this online publishing company specializing in a ‘different kind’ of Christian fiction. A year later, the…

The Friday Muse – Dark Horizons

Well, I spent over four hours at the coffee shop last night working on my Camp NaNoWriMo Project. The third volume in my Expired Reality series – Dark Horizons – has been a draft for literally 11 years now. Yeah. Figured it was time to continue that series. And yes, I’m still working on Red Crane, but Dark Horizons is a much bigger project to finish, so most of my writing time will be spent working on it. That being said, I’d like to share a few paragraphs from the novel so far. I would imagine very few of you have read any of my Expired Reality novels (or novella),…

The Friday Muse – Camp NaNoWriMo Has Begun!

Well, today’s the day that Camp NaNoWriMo begins! I feel like I should be pulling my shorts up a flagpole or filling up some water balloons to throw over at the girls’ cabins. Instead, I’ll be filling my eyes with the brightness of my computer monitor as I toil over a manuscript that I actually wrote the partial draft to during NaNoWriMo…2005. Yes, the project I was going to work on for Camp NaNo – MidLyte – will have to be put on the back burner. I realized that I have a series that has stalled over the course of the last few years because I can’t seem to bust…

The Friday Muse – Roaming V

Sorry for the hiatus on The Friday Muse pieces, but I’ve been pretty busy with projects and the such. Today’s piece is something I sketched out about nine months ago. It’s connected to my Expired Reality series, but even I’m not sure if it’s before the series or after. Anyway, enjoy! Roaming V A purple silhouette in the shape of the female form. Flat, without any identifying details, much like a blank cardboard cutout. That was all the woman was to Dellaray, even though it was known that the woman was so much more than a mere cutout or silhouette. She was a hologram. She was an A.I. – Artificial…

The Friday Muse – Tiffany Sweet

I’m still working hard on projects that aren’t directly related to my current novel-in-progress, Salt & Lyte, so I don’t really have much to share in regards to my progress with that. On the other side of the coin, I do have a ton of short snippets of fiction that I wrote on my old blog for what used to be called Flash Fiction Fridays. (I changed FFF to The Friday Muse because there were pieces I wrote that couldn’t really be considered flash fiction). Today’s Muse is a piece I titled Tiffany Sweet, and it’s a sneak peek at some of the background of one of the characters my…
