The Friday Muse – Salt’s Punishment
I haven’t had a lot of time to write this week, as most of my time has been spent tending to my son since his surgery on Tuesday to correct his club feet. I did sketch out more of the first draft to Red Crane last night at my coffee shop writing meeting, but I’m still keeping a majority of that story under wraps until it releases in the next couple of months. So, for today’s Friday Muse piece, I figured I’d go with a sample of what I worked on during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) back in 2014, as this is a story that I really want to…

The Friday Muse – The Wounded Crow
I haven’t worked on Salt & Lyte at all this week. I’ve actually been a bit sick (I’m in the middle of cutting coffee cold turkey), and I’ve also been working hard on a Kickstarter video. But, since switching to this blogging platform from Blogger, I realized some of my older posts that originated on Blogger might have gotten buried under the rubble of the move. Figured I’d resurrect one of my old The Friday Muse pieces. This is a short snippet I had to write in preparation for NaNoWriMo. It’s actually a scene that serves as a bit of backstory for Ryn, one of the antagonists in Salt &…

The Friday Muse – The LZR Project
I took a break this week from my current novel, Salt & Lyte, to work on a Kickstarter video I am doing for an upcoming campaign to raise funds for the publishing company I am starting. The break from my manuscript helped me to realize something very important: I don’t have enough hours in the day. I’m ‘supposed’ to turn the manuscript in to my editor in April, but there’s almost no way I’m going to finish it by then. The more I sketch out backstory and character profiles for the book, the more I need to write and rewrite. I definitely want to do the book right, so that…

The Friday Muse – Koror
My novel, Salt & Lyte, is really starting to take shape now. Each night I pour a little bit more into it and my hope is to hand it off to my editor in April – which isn’t all that far away. One of the main characters I’ve been working on lately is Koror. He is one of the main antagonists, and is a completely new villain to my story universe. Many rumors surround the origins of Koror. Some say he was born to five women who all gave birth to a different part of Koror’s person, assembling him as a whole during a group conception. Others say he fell…

The Friday Muse – Esheen, the Nomad
Last week I introduced everyone to Ra’f, the Great Oak – a centerpiece to my current novel, Salt & Lyte. This week I introduce you to Esheen, the Nomad – a prominent character from the same novel. Esheen was originally part of a group of settlers whose home world, Rodor, was decimated when a nearby star collapsed, destroying their planet and nearly everyone on it. A small group of survivors were able to flee the planet and flee to Valeriu (the planet Salt & Lyte takes place on). Once on Valeriu, this group of survivors – comprised of foragers, foresters, and nomads – built a village they could call home.…

The Friday Muse – Ra’f, the Great Oak
I’ve been working away at my current work-in-progress – Salt and Lyte – this week, and it seems to be coming along a lot smoother now that I’ve started sketching out character and environment profiles. Even though I had already written out a ton of character profiles and background on the world the story takes place in during NaNoWriMo, I still have numerous holes in the story and even more holes in the details of the story. One of the big profiles that I recently wrote out is for Ra’f, the Great Oak, a centerpiece to the story and an essential plot element. If some of you recognize the name,…

The Friday Muse – Salt Update
Well, it’s been weeks since I last did The Friday Muse (holidays and all), so it feels good to be back in the saddle once again to talk about my writing. I do have an update for my current Work-in-Progress, Salt, so here we go: For starters, I have decided to change the title of the book. From now on, I will refer to this particular project as Salt and Lyte. I originally wanted to have this book published by this coming Spring, but with more of my focus falling on the start of my publishing company, The Crossover Alliance, I’ve pushed my personal deadlines out a bit. Salt and…
