New Year, New Goals
Well, it’s here. We’re finally out of 2016 and are basking in the newness of 2017. 2016 wasn’t so much as bad for me as it was challenging. Between running the publishing company and trying to get my own writing done in the midst, I didn’t come close to completing any of my authorly projects. This new year will be all about balance (and more than a few late nights) for me. Some of the writing projects I’ll be working on (and completing) this year: Red Crane This is my first attempt at a supernatural detective novella. I have the base draft done, and I just need to do cover…

The Friday Muse – First Draft of Red Crane is Done!
Spent some time at the local coffee shop last night. My good friend and I usually meet there Thursday nights to crank out a couple of hours of writing together, and I used last night to finish up the first draft of my short story, Red Crane. The construct of the story consists of ten episodes – or chapters, I guess – and an epilogue. The word count right now is 11,526, and I plan to finish this and have it ready to publish sometime in the next month or two. I’m also working on my Camp NaNoWriMo project (the third novel in my Expired Reality series), so I have…

The Friday Muse – More Red Crane
Well, as of my weekly writing meeting last night at the local coffee shop, I’m about half way through the first draft of Red Crane. I’m getting more and more excited about this project as I dive deeper into it, mainly because its something outside the realm of what I’m used to writing. Instead of science fiction and fantasy, it’s detective, mystery, and a dash of noir. So, for today’s Friday Muse piece, I figured I’d give you all one more sneak peek at some of the story before I decide to lock it down until its publish date…

The Friday Muse – Future Plans
I don’t really have any new fiction to post today, but I have been working on some new fiction. Many of you who follow the blog know I started dabbling in a supernatural detective-type story, and I’m happy to say that I outlined it last night at my coffee shop writing meeting that I participate in each week with my buddy Jelani. This is a short story that I plan on releasing in March – the first of the monthly short stories that I want to start putting out on a regular basis. Red Crane is a supernatural detective tale about a man – Detective Hale – who is plagued…

The Friday Muse – Detective Hale
Months ago, I posted a Friday Muse piece entitled: Red Crane. It was a small snippet about a detective tracking a serial killer who leaves blood-stained origami cranes as calling cards with his victims. I’ve been wanting to dive further down that rabbit hole ever since, so last night at my weekly writing meeting, I sketched out some more of Detective Hale’s story. Enjoy!
