    The Value Of Perseverance

perseverance noun – 1. steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement. It’s a word I don’t hear much these days, let alone see in action. The act of staying on course regarding one’s goals, despite difficulty and discouragement, seems to be something of a rarity nowadays. I grew up in an age where perseverance was the norm. When people had a goal, when they had a dream, they ran after it with everything they had. They didn’t give up, they didn’t pull out a multitude of excuses, they didn’t cast blame for their surrender to others. I…

    Distractions

Every day, it’s the same thing. Over and over and over again. Distractions. On Friday evenings, I set up my schedule for the next week. I fill out my calendar in Thunderbird, I scribble out various tasks and projects that need to get done in the following week, and then I set myself up to follow the schedule as if it were being imposed upon me by a high-paying employer. But each week it’s the same thing. Over and over and over again. Monday starts off great. Projects are getting done, tasks are being checked off. Work runs from morning to night, and I place my head on the pillow…

The Benefit Of The Long Road To Success

Success. It’s what everyone strives for. Success in life, in business, in finance, in everything. We all want to succeed. We don’t want to fail. Most of all, we want success now. Not next year. Not the year after that. But now. I was like this for a very long time. In 2004, when I first self-published Expired Reality (now Endangered Memories, the first book in my Expired Reality series), I thought success would come to me overnight. I truly, wholly, believed that. In fact, I believe it so much that I hit one of the lowest points of my life when the book, in fact, did not become successful…

    Get Up…

Life can be rough. Scratch that, life is rough. Rougher than we think it should be sometimes. And there are many times life will do more than just leave us with a few scratches and scrapes. Sometimes, life will knock us to the floor and expect us to stay there until our dying breath. It is easily assumed that only the strong survive in this life. The adjoining assumption is that the strong don’t get knocked down. So in essence, the weak are the ones who are knocked down, and in turn, do not survive. That’s wrong on a number of different levels. I’ve seen many people fall in my…

    The Other Side

I hate seeing others give up on things. I don’t just mean giving up on a project or even a tough relationship. I mean giving up on the dreams that God gives a person. I’ve been hearing a lot of talk lately in different circles on how most people never reach ‘the other side’. The other side being the end fulfillment of a promise God has given them. The Israelites were promised the land of milk and honey, and a journey that should have taken them 11 days took them 40 years to accomplish. 11 days, and they wandered for 40 years. All because they didn’t trust God completely, because…
