The Friday Muse – Tinson’s Door (Part 2)
Curiosity had always scratched at his insides, luring him into the fields of science, technology, and astronomy. The Black Door, however, was something completely different. It was something that fell between the shelves of Tinson’s chosen fields of research. The Black Door was something supernatural, something alien. Something bizarre.

The Friday Muse – Hidden
Blood soaked the carpet, surrounding Rune like a blossoming rose. What he thought would have been the killing blow by Hastings simply put him in a state of misery he had never experienced before. His skull ached as if it were being tightened in a vice, and the rest of his broken form cried out in echoes of pain that mimicked the agonizing cries of a banshee. He didn’t have to guess that his wounds might be fatal by this point. And even if they weren’t, he knew Hastings would finish the job once he was finished cleaning up his wounded face. But the fact that Rune might be at…

Eight Ball, Corner Pocket
“Eight ball, corner pocket,” Shane called out. His trembling hands coated the pool stick in slippery sweat, making it difficult to position his shot. Sergio leaned against the pool table, a smirk slowly bleeding across his face. “You just called your fate, ese.” Gripping the pool stick, Shane lowered himself to the table and attempted to line up his shot. His rapidly pounding heart reminded him of how ridiculous it was that his fate and the fate of his wife and kid rested on a simple game of pool. His mind tried to trace the events that led him here… He caught his wife cheating with his best friend. That’s…

The Friday Muse – My Fiction Year In Review
This last year I floundered a bit at different times with my commitment to write new fiction every Friday, but I picked up the mantle once again towards the end and started writing out full short fiction pieces both to get into the practice of writing every week and to get in the habit of being less shy with what I write. In case you missed any of my fiction pieces, here’s a comprehensive list of the most recent batch with links to each. New stories will pick up again next Friday. Have a great weekend! The Stars Are Brightly Shining Snowfall In EuropeThe Mad Sea End Transmission The Man…

The Friday Muse – Winter In Provin
There’s times I’m ungrateful for this apartment. It’s small. It always smells of rice – even though I’ve never cooked rice in the five years I’ve lived here. The heater rumbles like a steam train. The washing machine, even louder. There’s this owl that always visits the porch and leaves behind gifts for me to clean up. But there are things I love about this apartment too. In the summer, it will warm up to seventy degrees. The rent used to be cheap. My neighbors were always pretty quiet and polite. And there was this owl that came by and let me pet him whenever I felt like going out…

The Friday Muse – Top Secret
It’s Friday! That’s definitely a good thing for more reasons than I can account for here in this blog. For one, though, it means it’s another Friday Muse piece. This one is a slice of flash fiction about the lost city of Atlantis…

The Friday Muse – The Tomb Raider
As I have a great love for the Tomb Raider franchise and for fantasy, I decided to merge the two for today’s Friday Muse piece. Enjoy!

The Friday Muse – Moonlight
Today’s Friday Muse piece is an attempt at first-person POV, which I haven’t actually done in a while. It’s also a bit longer than some of my other Muse pieces, but that’s always a good thing.

The Friday Muse – The War
Today’s Friday Muse piece is a fun piece of flash fiction I wrote to illustrate a fun tale a child’s grandfather has to tell him. I like this piece because, unlike many of the other Friday Muse pieces I’ve written, it’s more lighthearted and fun.

The Friday Muse – Dead Train
Today’s Friday Muse piece is another piece to what has potential of becoming a much bigger story. The fact that Anaisha is mentioned in the story should clue you in that this takes place in my Expired Reality/Black Earth universe, but I’m not sure of when in my timeline it takes place.
